Dance for World Community Festival 2021

Vidyanjali Dancers were expertly represented by students Sumaedha Konduri, Aanika Seth Mohta, Reeya Wadhwani, Nikhitha Biju, Vidhatri Pujar and Pragnya Sankar at the 2021 Dance for World Community Festival hosted by Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre on September 25, 2021 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The students introduced their own items and shared special items to showcase Bharatanatyam's versatility, including the Telugu padam "Madhura Nagarilo", Dilip Roy's "Yaman" and Lalgudi's "Desh Thillana" - all choreographed by Guru Smt. Sudha Chandra Sekhar back in the early 1980s.

The Dance for World Community Festival's theme was climate justice, and the dancers explained how the Earth and the elements are all very sacred in our culture. Through dance movement, we celebrate the spirituality of nature, and show our respect to it by bowing and saying Namaste. Through music and movement, we dancers connect with the earth and celebrate the life it gives us. It also reminds us that we need to nurture and protect the earth and treat life as a gift to be treasured.
